Better coverage starts here—especially when you know how to protect it.
Scammers are getting sneakier, and Medicare beneficiaries are a frequent target. A new warning from the Administration for Community Living reminds us all: Medicare will never call you out of the blue to confirm your Medicare number or to send you a new card.
🚫 Don't Fall for the "New Card" Trick
One common scam involves a caller pretending to be from Medicare. They may say:
You're getting a new Medicare card.
They need to "verify" your Medicare number.
Your benefits will be canceled if you don’t respond.
Don't believe them. This is a scam. The real Medicare will never ask for your personal information over the phone unless you call them first.
✅ What You Can Do to Stay Safe
Hang up right away if you get a suspicious call.
Never give out your Medicare number, Social Security number, or bank details to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Report the call to the Senior Medicare Patrol at 1-877-808-2468 or visit smpresource.org.
👵👴 Why This Matters
We’ve helped thousands of clients here at Utah Avenue Insurance, and we care about keeping your Medicare coverage secure. Fraudsters are after your information so they can steal your identity or submit fake claims under your name. That puts your benefits and your peace of mind at risk.
